About Browns Babies
17 years ago I became addicted to 4 paws and fur. I know that sounds crazy but any animal lover would know exactly what I mean. Dogs and puppies became my passion. I got to be a stay-at-home mom raising my 3 sons and was going a little stir-crazy as I had always worked. So Edward and I thought some company of a dog would help and well need I say more. I just fell in love with it and began my journey. The kids loved my home and we loved what we built as a family. 17 years later and still love every minute of raising the perfect puppies to add to so many families. The smiles have been endless and just melt our hearts.

WAIT TIME
Browns Babies does not offer a waiting list. We get numerous inquiries daily to be able to keep up with so many folks. We are asked from time to time “How long will I need to wait to get my puppy?” The answer is as soon as you see them on my site I am ready for reservations and then my veterinarian Dr. Scott will examine each pup and give me the ok. The typical pick-up time is around 8 to 10 weeks of age and within a week of posting and reservations.
You can rest easy that once your deposit has been paid, I will make sure you are able to pick up your new puppy at the first available date. (Friday's and Saturday's that is of course as preferred)
PICK-UP / DELIVERY
We do not ship our puppies under any circumstances, however, we are not opposed to you flying in, renting a car, and then flying in the cabin with our babies back to your home. :)
We always love when you can pick up your puppy directly from Edward and me here at our home. I certainly understand that there may be circumstances that make this especially challenging or even impossible for you. When time permits we also offer delivery services and are able to travel up to 200 miles from our home for a competitive fee.
I believe the pick-up experience is made complete with an opportunity to meet your new Poos parents, Edward and myself. I want to have time to answer all of your questions, so please plan for at least 30 minutes on your pick-up date/time.
In regards to the payment of the final balance, we prefer Cash. You can hand your payment directly to me or Edward on Pick-Up Day.
If it has been a while since you've had a puppy (or maybe you are a first-time puppy parent), we encourage you to read over the resources I have shared as well as our Puppy Shopping List here.
TRAVEL TIPS
When our puppies travel home with their forever families. More often than not, they are traveling long distances by car or on planes to get to their new homes. We regularly hear back from our families on how well their puppy did while traveling. We want to help ensure that every part of your trip to pick up your puppy is the great day you have waited for!
Choose how you plan to pick up your puppy below for an appropriate travel checklist for every part of your trip and exciting day with your new puppy.
DRIVING TO PICK UP MY PUPPY
Our puppies frequently travel home with their new families on long drives. Often your little puppy will be so excited to meet you that they tire themselves out and nap most of the way home! We want to help ensure that your trip to pick up your puppy becomes the great experience we have planned it to be for you! Before arranging your trip there are several things you may need to consider.
CHOOSE A CARRIER
Some families traveling by car prefer to wrap their puppies in a towel, carrying their puppy in their laps all the way home while others feel more comfortable using a small travel carrier in the car. Generally, our puppies end up sleeping most of the way home. (We wake them up early that morning and get them running around, they see you and are all excited. After all the excitement of meeting you, they are usually pretty tired!)
We recommend a 24"L x 18" W x 19" wire crate as a one-time purchase that they will never outgrow with a bath towel that can be washed in the event of motion sickness. That is very typical until they get on solid ground.
ITEMS FOR TRAVELING
If you are traveling a long distance, it's a good idea to have a small bowl and a water bottle along to give your puppy the opportunity to get a drink when you stop for potty breaks.
You can never go wrong with having a few paper towels handy!
A little toy in the carrier might also be a nice touch.
Check out our Puppy Shopping List where we share our favorite puppy items as well as information on the current dietary needs of your puppy. You may find it useful as it serves as a checklist of sorts as you prepare to bring your puppy home!
PUBLIC PLACES
It is very easy for your puppy to contract a parasite on your way home. Puppies can get parasites simply from standing water, bird, animal, or insect feces, etc. Please use great caution as you maneuver through public places during your travel. Avoid grassy areas or dirty pavements. Also, be very wary of places where unvaccinated dogs may have been.
An easy solution could be to have a puppy pad with you. If your puppy needs a potty break, pop one in the back of your car, or lay it on a clean area of pavement and the puppy can safely relieve himself/herself on the puppy pad.
CAR SICKNESS
Yes, puppies can get car sick on the way home. (Please do not give your puppy food while traveling – that will make them quite nauseous!) However, if you have an exceptionally long drive (i.e. over 8 hours), a little food would be appropriate. Nausea is better than low blood sugar due to a lack of food.
Some other little tips are: ensure that the vehicle stays cool with good ventilation. Also, as you can, have his/her crate facing forwards as that can help with motion sickness.
FLYING IN AND OUT ON ONE DAY!
Some of our families chose to fly in and out on the same day! If you can, we would usually recommend choosing to stay in a local hotel overnight, but we also understand it can save on hotel costs and busy schedules! Just remember that leaving too short of a window between your arriving flight and your return flight can lead to unnecessary stress on a very happy day. So, if flying in and out on the same day is definitely a better option for you, we would recommend always allowing for a generous window of time!
If you choose to pick up your puppy and will need to make airline and/or hotel arrangements, please be sure to also purchase travel insurance. Your puppy's pick-up date is subject to your pup passing his/her final vet check.
Some airlines require USDA documentation/approval, as well as a document that states the puppy's date of birth and a current vaccination record.
Your puppy will be vet checked and have received all age-appropriate medications and vaccinations. We will have a vaccination record for you that you can provide to the airline / your vet at your puppy’s first appointment.
